8x8 oil on Ampersand Cradled Panel
This is another painting of Jean Townsend.  I wanted to paint her again and decided to use a larger support.  It was a bit of a struggle, but I am satisfied with the result.

JEAN - A Texas Mug!

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
This is Jean Townsend, a fabulous Texas artist (an introduction, just in case you haven't met her) and member of this blog.  We've been promising each other to send photos of each other to paint and we finally did.  And I have to tell you that I had a blast painting Jean's mug.  She sent 3 great photos (and, yes I am going to paint them all - maybe more than once).  In this reference photograph, Jean wore a huge frown and smudged lipstick.  Just wonderful!  I've painted this not only for my pleasure and blog, but for Some Texas Artists Like To Paint.  The January challenge is mug shots.  Please check out Jean's blog!

Mugshot: The Splendid Linda Popple

Here she is, our Linda Popple.

Not exactly a mug shot! by Carol Morgan

This isn't exactly a mugshot but it is my most recent painting. This is the daughter of a friend and advisor. She was so relaxed and I couldn't resist!

"They've Caught Santa" by Ann Rogers

5 x 7
oil on panel

When looking through some on-line mugshots for this month's theme, I ran across this guy who seems to  be a dead ringer for Santa. It made me stop to think that I haven't seen the jolly ole man lately in any of the stores or malls. Hummm, does Santa have a crew cut?

Pug Mug by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Mistah Chu's Pug Mug
Oil on Linen Board
Nancy Medina Web Site

Mistah Chu is a very spoiled pug who lives in Arizona with his family. He spends his time basking by the pool, eating, and napping indoors by the AC when the weather gets warm. He's about the best example of a mug shot I have in my repertoire, although my own pug Howie, is much more likely to end up in a police station lineup for breaking the law than Mistah Chu. Mistah Chu's mom assures me he is, most of the time, an absolute angel.

Happy New Year to All!

Happy New Year to the Some Texas Artists Like To Paint group....I hope that 2012 is a great year for everyone. I don't know what the January post is suppose to be.....can anyone help me out? I could post what is on my easel, but I am sure that I would be starting the new year out on the wrong track. Happy Painting! Kay
