Pink Peony by Roxanne Spradlin

Pink Peony......12 x 12.......Arylic........SOLD

I love flowers! I love the way they look. I love the way they smell (except Lantana) :)
I have so many favorites! If I had a top ten list, I'm pretty sure peonies would make it.
I've painted plenty of roses but this was my first attempt at a peony. I knew that it would be easy to over work these dense petals. So I took a deep breath and painted with a 1" bright and quick/ intentional strokes. Paying careful attention to the contrasts and the 'many' shades of pink.

...I apologize for the unprofessional photo. It's gone now....lesson learned!

  1. Roxanne, I think that like a rose, peonies would be hard to paint, but this is absolutely lovely. The gradation of color is right on!

  2. One huge, beautiful peony! I would love to see this one in person, it's gorgeous.

  3. Roxanne, peonies are one of my favorite flowers, from their giant buds to their beautiful display of ruffled petals, I love this painting!

  4. is lovely. I would love to see this painting on a large canvas. Your colors are beautiful---so many shades of pink!!!
