Tools of the Trade, by Sharon Hodges
When I think of tools, I think of the annual tool sale at Sears (gee, I love October), and then I think of the tools in my dad's workshop, and then my mind wandered off into 'tools of the trade'...this painting is from a photo I shot in a potter's studio. Her workbench was littered with her many mixing bowls, glazing powders, and secret formulas...all the tools of her trade. This is one of my early paintings, but I thought I'd be brave and post it anyway. Now, I'll get to thinking about other ideas for 'tools'!
Sharon, I'm so glad you posted this, because I know how I feel about some of my early work! HA! But even this shows great promise, which of course we all know you've fulfilled. :)

ReplyDeleteYes, beautiful colors and you are so brave to post an earlier work, it is wonderful! Last summer I began painting swatches in an extra moleskine I had. It's become a very important tool for me and I refer to it often. I have colors organized by a painting's title; anyway, it is definitely an important tool of mine and I love seeing that someone else has one, too.
