SORROW - James Parker (Oil Spill)

This incident in the Gulf of Mexico makes me feel like I've lost a best friend. And that's true, actually. No painting I could do could truly depict the tragedy... nor words I could say. I have done the best I could in acrylics on 10x20 canvasboard with my poem decoupaged on it.

Great Blue Herons have a wonderful call and can be seen across the US including along the Texas coast. While researching Mister Blue, I found a Web site where you can hear the voice of the Great Blue Heron. Take a look and scroll down a bit for the play button.

Great Blues and other coastal birds are in peril due to the catastrophic oil spill that has contaminated almost a third of the entire Gulf region. As the oil slick heads inland, our sea creatures and birds are dying. There are heroes among us, fortunately, who are doing all they can to mobilize rescue teams to help these birds. The International Bird Rescue Research Center's blog has a video and information about these organized efforts.
