"Craig's Chair" by Gwen Bell
5 x 7 oil on canvas nfs
I painted this from a photo I took years ago
while waiting on my Mural painting partner to
get his supplies packed. I was bored and looking
around for some interesting shadows to capture
on my new camera.
Craig and I haven't worked together for about 5
years, but I always think of him fondly when I
see his chair.

Gwen, what a nice study of an otherwise rather simple scene. The shadows of the chair provide just enough interest to balance the other large shapes of color. Well done!
ReplyDeleteFond memories are like that, coming back to warm our hearts!
ReplyDeleteI really like the quiet simplicity of this . . . the simple scene and mood remind me a little of Vuillard and Bonnard. Love the strong composition and position of the whites.
ReplyDeleteGwen, love the variety of shapes here and the repetition of the horizontal shapes (painting, table, chair seat), very nice and a very welcoming scene.
